Benefitting our children, strengthening our community

Get a jump on school!

The TFS West Campus Parents’ Association hopes that you and your family are enjoying the hot August weather. With only a few more weeks of summer vacation, here are some tips to help you get ahead of the back-to-school scramble.

Sign up for Pizza Lunch

Once again this year, the PA is pleased to offer a hot Pizza Lunch every Friday to West Campus students in JK to Grade 7. With delicious cheese, pepperoni, veggie, or specialty pizza, as well as fruit and vegetables and a choice of milk or juice, Pizza Lunch is a nutritious treat that TFS kids look forward to at the end of each week. The cost of $248 per child for the full year (31 meals) will be charged directly to your TFS account.

Tools for Schools

Order your child's supplies from Tools for Schools today and skip the crowded school supplies aisles in September. Each teacher has reviewed and approved the contents for their grade’s list, and kits will be ready for pick up on Orientation Day. The West Campus PA receives a small donation for each order that is placed. The deadline for ordering is August 16th, so don’t delay!

Select Ontario and Mississauga, then choose TFS West Campus and the grade level of your child. Review the itemized list and click “Buy the Kit” to start the checkout process.

Orientation Day

Orientation Day at the TFS West Campus is on Friday, September 4th from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. Uniforms are not required to be worn on Orientation Day and students must be supervised.

Members of the West Campus Parent Association team will be there to answer questions on the role of the PA and to tell you about volunteer opportunities. We’re looking forward to greeting new and returning families.

Used Uniform Sale and Donations

The PA will be holding a Used Uniform Sale in the foyer on Orientation Day, where you can pick up some great bargains for those kids that grew over the summer. We will also be accepting donations of any clean, gently used uniform items that you may wish to drop off.

Mabel’s Labels

Tired of losing items in the lost and found? Support the TFS West PA by purchasing personalized labels – 20% of your purchase will go towards supporting the PA’s activities.

Get Involved with the PA

Volunteering with the TFS Parents’ Association is a great way to make a contribution to the school community and meet other TFS families. Whether you only have a few hours outside of the school day or are able to commit more, we’ll match you with an opportunity that works for you. Your time and talent can benefit our children — sign up today and help strengthen the TFS community.

Meet your Class Parent

Class Parents are important point-persons in the TFS community. Acting as the parental hub of each classroom, they liaise with homeroom teachers and mobilize volunteers in support of class-based and school-wide initiatives. Please approach them with any questions that you may have; they will do their best to respond or direct you to an appropriate resource.

Join us in welcoming the Class Parents for the 2015-2016 year, and be sure to say hello when you see them at school!

Birthday Book Club

The Birthday Book Club is a way to celebrate your child’s birthday with a special book and to help build the resources of the TFS West Campus library. For the Birthday Book Club to continue this year, the PA is looking for a volunteer to run the program. The commitment involves a few short meetings with the school Librarian and can mostly be managed via email outside of school hours.

French Classes for Parents

Want to be more effective at helping your child with their homework? Want to practice speaking French with other TFS parents? Want to take a class that fits with your schedule?

Give us your name and if enough parents are interested, Alliance Francaise will come to the TFS West Campus to teach us. All interested parents are welcome, even if you do not speak French or took classes a very long time ago.
