Benefitting our children, strengthening our community

Back to School!

The TFS Parents' Association at the West Campus is pleased to welcome you to the start of the 2015-16 school year! The PA works to engage and strengthen the TFS community for the benefit of all our children. We organize events and programs for families that add to the school’s great learning environment while raising funds that support special projects and activities for students.

Sent at the start of every month, this newsletter is one of the ways in which the PA helps you to stay updated on news and activities in the TFS community. You can also visit us on the web at, reach out to us with questions or suggestions at or find us in the school hallways at drop-off or pickup time.

Many of us on the West Campus PA team are new faces and we are all looking forward to getting to know you. A list of West Campus PA Representatives and Class Parents is included at the end of this email, and can also be found on the PA West website.

Be sure to say hello to us when you see us at school!

Ayaz, Mona, Shannon, Mariana, Anita, Honey, and Sara.

New Head of School to Address PA West Meeting

We are pleased to announce that Dr Josep González, the new Head of School, will be our guest speaker at the first PA West Campus meeting. Held three times each year, PAW meetings provide the West Campus parent community a chance to review and give feedback on PA priorities, progress and the budget. All parents are invited and strongly encouraged to attend on September 30, 2015 at 7:30 PM in the school gym.

Join the Birthday Book Club

The Birthday Book Club is a wonderful way to encourage your child's love of reading, while contributing to building the volume of books in the TFS West Campus library. Kids who sign up get to choose a new, uncirculated book from the school’s collection and are recognised with a special bookplate indicating that the book was given to the library in honour of your child's birthday. Register by Monday, September 21, 2015 – the cost of $25 per child is charged to your TFS account.

Sign up for Pizza Lunch

The PA is pleased to offer a hot Pizza Lunch every Friday to West Campus students in JK to Grade 7. With delicious cheese, pepperoni, veggie, or specialty pizza, as well as fruit and vegetables and a choice of milk or juice, Pizza Lunch is a nutritious treat that TFS kids look forward to at the end of each week.

The deadline to sign up online is Tuesday, September 9 at a cost of $248 per child for the full year (31 meals), to be charged directly to your TFS account. Thank you to Grade 6 parents for kicking off the first pizza lunch, which will be served on September 11.

School-wide Lunch Program

This year, parents of JK to Grade 7 students will be able to order lunches prepared by Real Foods for Real Kids (aka RFRK). They use quality ingredients to provide yummy, nourishing meals to children at a reasonable price, and have also been selected by the school as the lunch provider for PK students under the Day Nurseries Act. RFRK will be at the school on Orientation Day offering food samples – be sure to check them out!

Orientation Day

Orientation Day at the TFS West Campus is on Friday, September 4th from 9:00–11:00 AM. Uniforms are not required to be worn on Orientation Day and students must be supervised.

Members of the West Campus Parent Association team will be there to answer questions on the role of the PA and to tell you about volunteer opportunities. We’re looking forward to greeting new and returning families.

Used Uniform Sale and Donations

The PA will be holding a Used Uniform Sale in the foyer on Orientation Day and on the first day of school. Pick up some great bargain items for those kids that grew over the summer! We will also be accepting donations of any clean, gently used uniform items that you may wish to drop off.

Also, we are looking for volunteers to help with the Uniform Sale on the first day of school (September 8, at drop-off / pickup). If you are available, email us or sign up here.

Want to be more effective at helping your child with their homework? Want to practice speaking French with other TFS parents? Want to take a class that fits with your schedule?

For a group of 5 – 12 learners, the estimated cost is $360 per person for 24 hours of class time.
